Global superstar Nicki Minaj has publicly aligned herself with President Donald Trump, culminating in her receiving a “Trump Gold Card”—an investor visa program designed to fast-track residency and citizenship for wealthy individuals. The rapper, born in Trinidad and Tobago, showcased the card to her millions of followers on X (formerly Twitter) following a high-profile appearance at a Treasury Department summit in Washington, D.C.

During the event, Minaj officially declared herself the President’s “number one fan,” standing alongside Trump on stage. The President introduced her as “the greatest and most successful female rapper in history,” noting that she had remained a steadfast supporter despite facing “heat” from her fanbase. In response, Minaj vowed that the criticism only motivated her to support him more, stating, “The hate or what people have to say, it does not affect me at all.”

The “Trump Gold Card” itself is part of a residency initiative launched in late 2025. Typically, the program requires a $1 million contribution to the U.S. government plus a $15,000 processing fee, offering wealthy non-citizens a streamlined path to permanent legal residency. However, Minaj claimed on social media that she was gifted the card “free of charge.” She also suggested that she is “finalizing citizenship paperwork” under the program, though White House officials later clarified to some outlets that the card serves as a “memento” and a residency permit rather than an immediate grant of citizenship, which requires a separate legal process.

Minaj’s vocal support marks a complete reversal from her earlier political stances. In December 2025, she surprised the public by appearing at Turning Point USA’s AmericaFest, where she praised both Trump and Vice President JD Vance as “role models.” At the recent Treasury summit, she also pledged a personal donation of several hundred thousand dollars to support the administration’s “Trump Accounts” initiative, a government-backed investment program for American children.

While the move has sparked intense debate within the music industry and among her fans (the “Barbz”), Minaj remains defiant. She characterized her alignment with the administration as a stand against “bullying” and “smear campaigns.” As she moves forward with her residency status, her high-profile endorsement places her among the most prominent entertainment figures to openly join the MAGA movement during the President’s current term.
