A TikTok creator from North Carolina has been ordered to pay a huge amount of money after a jury found that she played a role in the destruction of another woman's marriage.

Brenay Kennard, who has a large following on social media, was taken to court by Akira Montague, the ex-wife of her former manager, Tim Montague. Akira accused Brenay of building a secret relationship with her husband while pretending to be a friend.

In her complaint, Akira said she trusted Brenay and even allowed her into her home. She claimed that the two grew close and often spent time together. According to her, Brenay later used the trust she had gained to get involved with Tim. The case was filed under a law that still exists in a few states in the United States. It allows a spouse to sue someone who is accused of breaking up a marriage.

The court found Brenay responsible for two major claims. The first one was for causing the loss of affection in the marriage. The second one was for being involved with Tim while he was still married. The jury awarded Akira one point five million dollars for the loss of affection and an additional two hundred and fifty thousand dollars for the second claim.

This brought the total amount to one point seven five million dollars which is roughly two hundred and twenty seven million shillings.

Brenay insisted that she did nothing wrong and argued that the marriage was already falling apart. She said Akira had agreed to their friendship and communication. However, the jury did not accept this explanation. Akira's legal team said the ruling was a major victory and an emotional relief for her.

The case has caused a wide discussion online with many people surprised that this type of law is still in use today.
