Popular Nigerian socialite Elena Jessica has died weeks after undergoing a second Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) procedure, a development that has sparked grief across social media and renewed debate about cosmetic surgery risks.
Elena Jessica was widely known online for sharing glamorous photos, luxury lifestyle moments, and engaging regularly with her followers. Her sudden death has shocked many fans who had closely followed her life on social media platforms.
Reports indicate that Elena underwent the cosmetic surgery on February 6 at Cynosure Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. The procedure involved liposuction and the transfer of fat to enhance the hips, buttocks, and other body areas.
Just two days after the surgery, she reportedly began experiencing severe pain around the operated parts of her body. Medical tests later showed that her white blood cell count had risen significantly while her blood levels had dropped to dangerous levels. Doctors performed blood transfusions and placed her on antibiotics as they tried to control the complications.
Her condition did not improve. On February 13, doctors carried out another operation to remove excess fat from the affected areas. Despite the procedure, Elena's health continued to deteriorate, forcing her family to seek more specialized medical care.
She was later referred to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital for advanced treatment. However, finding an intensive care unit bed proved difficult. Reports indicate she remained in an ambulance for several hours while waiting for admission as her pain worsened.
