Diamond Platnumz has touched hearts across Tanzania after choosing to spend part of his Valentine's season visiting rural villages and gifting elderly residents cash in surprise acts of kindness.

The Bongo Flava superstar, best known for his hit song Komosava, distributed TSh200,000 (approximately KSh10,000) to each beneficiary.

The money was neatly packaged inside gift boxes, adding a thoughtful touch to the gesture. For many of the elderly women he visited, the unexpected support proved overwhelming, with some breaking down in tears while others lifted their hands in prayer.

In a video shared on his Instagram page on Sunday, February 15, 2026, the singer is seen moving from one village to another accompanied by a small team.

He made random stops at modest homes, particularly targeting elderly women who appeared to be in need of assistance. The visits were deliberately kept low-key to preserve the element of surprise.

To avoid attracting attention, Diamond dressed casually in a simple jumper and slippers. He also avoided using his well-known luxury vehicles, opting for a more discreet mode of transport so as not to draw crowds before completing his mission.

Recipients reacted with shock and gratitude upon realising who stood before them. Some hugged him tightly, while others immediately offered heartfelt prayers, thanking him for remembering them during a season often associated with romance and lavish celebrations.

Speaking about the initiative, Diamond explained that he wanted to celebrate Valentine's differently this year. Rather than focusing on the usual romantic gestures, he chose to spread love through quiet, personal acts of generosity.

"This is Valentine's season, and despite everything, I decided to celebrate it differently this year by visiting different people without them knowing in advance and giving them gifts. Inside each box is TSh200,000, and every person will receive their share," he said.

He added that he was accompanied by a small team, including Ricardo Momo, and emphasised that avoiding his branded cars was intentional to ensure the surprise remained intact throughout the visits.
