Tanzanian actress Wema Sepetu is on the receiving end for praising President Samia Suluhu. for praising President Samia Suluhu. Wema made an Instagram post praising the president, and her post rubbed fans the wrong way. Suluhu was declared the winner with an unprecedented 98% of the vote.
However, her re-election was widely denounced as a sham election by the opposition, human rights groups, and international observers since she had barred major opposition candidates and subsequent violence. Bongo artistes, including Diamond Platnumz, Ali Kiba, Rayvanny and Zuchu, who had endorsed Samia's re-election, faced backlash from Tanzanian citizens who accused them of siding with their oppressors.
Despite the discontent, Wema made a post hailing Samia. "Number Moja wetu... Allah akubarik na akupe nguvu na ujasiri... Allah Humma Ameen Yarab Mama Yangu Mama... Mama Samia Mama ," she wrote.
